What Condoms Are Best for First Time
Choosing the best condom is a rather subjective thing. I already wrote how choosing the best fit according to your size increases the condom effectiveness.
Therefore, a condom size is the first parameter you should consider when searching for the best condom. Read on how to find your correct size, if you haven't already.
Condom thickness is another factor, and we discussed why some would prefer thin condoms and others find thick condoms better suited to their needs.

You should keep in mind that some condoms don't protect from sexually transmitted diseases (for example lambskin condoms). Some condoms can't be used with oil-based lubricants (latex condoms) and some can (condoms made of polyurethane).
Besides from these factors, there are many other subtle differences which give the advantage to some condoms.
Although different persons might have different needs, various polls showed that people on average do prefer some condoms more than the others. In this post, I will present you with some of the best condoms from several different categories, based on the results from the Annual Condom award, customer feedback, reviews and ratings, as well as my own research and experience.
Best condoms in 2021
Let's start with three condoms which are getting the highest ratings in the last 15 or more Annual Condom Awards ran by condomdepot.com, online condom store. Their Official Condom Tester Pool usually consists of 250 people which have to choose from the sample of 40 condoms that received the highest online ratings.
Best Buy Regular Sized Ultra Thin Condom
Okamoto Crown Skinless Skin is the 19th time best condom winner and this speaks for itself. It's a quality condom from a well-known Japanese manufacturer, offered at a very competitive price. One of my personal favorites as well.
Dimensions:
- Head Width: 2.05″
- Shaft Width: 2.05″
- Base Width: 2.05″
- Length: 7.50″
- Thickness: 0.0185″

Durex Extra Sensitive Condoms
Durex Extra Sensitive condoms are 20% thinner than other Durex condoms to provide a more intense feeling. Note: They introduced a new packaging and the details on the box indicate these have a more comfortable fit than the earlier version.
Dimensions:
- Nominal Width: 2.13″
- Length: 7.48″
- Thickness: 0.019″

Okamoto Beyond Seven Condoms

These three have been on the market for a long time (17+ years!) and usually receive high customer ratings. They are also very affordable so they are the best buy for those who are looking for thin latex condoms.
However, the condom industry did advance in recent years and a lot of these new products are not yet available in certain online stores, not to mention local pharmacies (as they are yet to receive an FDA approval).
Let's see which other condoms are worth your time, divided into different categories.
Best condoms for the first time
Trojan ENZ Condoms
You want to be extra cautious for your first time. The most important thing you need to check is what kind of condom size should you use. Assuming its size will suit you, a basic and reliable condom like Trojan ENZ will surely do the job.
My old recommendation was Durex Extra Safe, but considering it's not available on the US market, I feel Trojan ENZ is a worthy replacement.

Best condoms for pleasure
Kimono Textured (ex Kimono MicroThin Ribbed + Sensi-Dots)
Kimono Textured condom replaced Trojan Twisted Pleasure and Lifestyles Dual Pleasure in this category as the latter are getting harder to find.
Guys will like it because it's thinner than other ribbed condoms, girls will like it for the ribs and dots which increase friction.
# One of the thinnest ribbed condoms on the market with 0.062mm thickness
# Lightly lubricated with a contoured shape

Best condoms for oral sex
Trojan ENZ Non-Lubricated Condoms
You should know that you risk getting an STD if you indulge in unprotected oral sex. When you choose a condom for oral sex, you should select a condom which is non-lubricated and preferably flavored. For more suggestions check out the section at the bottom of the article or read this post.

Best condoms for lasting longer
Durex Performax Intense Condoms
If you finish too soon, you could try climax delay condoms. These condoms have a small addition of benzocaine, which will slightly numb your feeling/sensation and thus allow you to have longer intercourse.

Best thin condoms
Although there are even thinner condoms these days, this one is FDA approved and as such more easily available, plus present on the market for a long-enough time to receive enough customer reviews and appraisals.

Worth considering:
If you want to try a non-latex thin condom your best bet is Lifestyles SKYN Elite, which is 10% thinner than old polyisoprene condoms.
These are best rated thin condoms on the market which are also FDA approved. If you're looking for something even thinner try some of the new ultra-thin condoms I've talked about before you make the final verdict.
Best large condoms
Beyond Seven Mega Big Boy
Beyond Seven Mega Big Boy threw Trojan Magnum XL condom from this position, which used to be the usual winner. Why you might prefer it? It's made of sheerlon, a type of latex which is thinner than regular latex condoms and odorless.
- Length: 8.07″/205mm
- Width: 2.24″/57mm
- Head width: 2.95″/75mm

Best non-latex condom
Lifestyles SKYN
Odorless and affordable, they transmit heat and sensation better than a lot of classical latex condoms. If you or your partner suffer from latex allergy or are latex sensitive this condom is your best bet.

Best flavored condoms
Trustex Assorted Flavors Extra Strength Condoms
It's hard to pinpoint just one flavor as the best one as we all have different tastes. For this year's Valentine Day, guys from HuffingtonPost.com got a bunch of differently flavored condoms, put them on bananas and invited all their employees to test them and pick the best one (btw. that's an interesting idea for team building :) ).
As you can see in this video, most of them picked the Chocolate flavor as the best one (but it was a tough call). Houstonpress.com ran a similar contest and their winner was Strawberry (and Chocolate was at the end of the list!).
That's why I'm suggesting you try a flavored variety pack and discover firsthand which flavor (if any) is your pick.

Best Custom Fit condoms
In comparison their (only) competitor, MySize Condoms, offers just 7 different sizes.

Best condom brand
Okamoto
I already wrote about Okamoto, it is a well known Japanese condom brand.
Well, that's about it. I would love to hear your comments. Maybe you have your own favorite condom? Please share your favorite candidates below.
